All CBD preparations are of 3 types:
• Crystallised CBD isolate - a purified formulation that contains no other compounds from the cannabis plant.
• Broad spectrum CBD - contains all the components of the cannabis plant but does not contain the intoxicating THC substance.
• Full spectrum CBD - contains all the components of the hemp plant and up to 0,3 % THC material.
Crystallised CBD isolate
This is a crystalline solid or powder consisting of pure CBD. The production of the isolate uses a variety of processes and aims to extract all the compounds and other substances from the cannabis plant during production. This produces a pure CBD crystal that can be ground into a powder for ease of consumption. CBD isolate does not have any distinctive smell or taste. The product is effective against pain and swelling, but the dosage must be very precise.
Broad spectrum
CBD These CBD products contain various compounds and cannabinoids from the cannabis plant: cannabichromene, cannabinol, terpene myrcene, limonene, pinene. Generally, broad-spectrum CBD does not contain any THC material, but small amounts of THC may be present in some products. It is extracted from the cannabis plant by various methods: steam distillation, solvent extraction, carbon dioxide extraction, lipid extraction. The different extraction methods influence the specific composition of CBD. If we compare crystallised CBD isolate with broad-spectrum CBD, it appears that the latter may have enhanced effects. This is due to the presence of additional compounds in broad spectrum CBD that work together. This additional effect is called the environmental effect. Today, the effects of the different types of CBD have not yet been fully explored, and it is not necessarily the case that one CBD type is significantly better than another.
Full spectrum CBD
This type of CBD contains all the beneficial compounds naturally found in the cannabis plant. Cannabinoids: There are more than 100 known cannabinoids, including CBD and THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) substances, which are responsible for therapeutic and psychoactive effects in humans. Terpenes: Cannabis plants contain more than 150 terpenes, which convey the smell of the plant and have therapeutic and sedative effects. Flavonoids: there are about 20 different flavonoids found in all types of plants (fruits, vegetables, cereals) and they have therapeutic, anti-inflammatory, anti-tumour and neuroprotective effects.
Which type of CBD to choose?
Full-spectrum CBD is the best choice if you are interested in therapeutic benefits and efficacy. However, if you are sensitive to intoxicating THC or want to avoid it, try broad spectrum CBD products. If you don't want the added benefits, choose a crystallised CBD isolate. It is useful to know that full-spectrum CBD contains up to 0.2% THC material. However, this is a very small amount and will not give you a feeling of elation or euphoria.
